Below are some screenshots of my guardian farm I recently finished! I've still yet to "beautify" it, but at least I got the farm going I've only done one test, but so far the rates are around 150-200 Guardians per hour. I will be conducting more of these tests. View attachment 1877 Summary: Guardian farms are quite big, so it's hard to find the right place to AFK at. Guardians spawn in that body of water, drop into a stream leading them into a killing chamber. The problem is that the drop point was more than 32m away from my AFK area. If mobs are more than 32m away from you, they have a chance to randomly despawn. Since Guardians stack due to the Mob Stacker plugin, the game usually chooses to despawn that entire stack, as it detects it as one Guardian. To solve this, I added a stream of water leading to a slimeblock elevator that carries them over to my AFK area. At the end of the stream, just before the slimeblocks are some hoppers. Since Squid spawn and die (either killed by guardians or lack of water) I also get to collect ink sacs. From there, I can turn on the lever, which will extend the pistons with glass blocks on them (this prevents them from glitching out or taking extra damage) and keep them from jumping all the time. I then manually kill them using my lovely "The Crate Hoarder" with Looting VII to get better drop chances of the Prismarine Crystals, which are needed to create Sea Lanterns. Hoppers pick up the loot, and pass through item filters to be sorted. - Aeroxas Important Information: This design is a modified version of sZPeddy's Guardian Farm, combined with Snocrash's Guardian Elevator. The item filter design is by impulseSV, and has overflow protection. The farm works best when there are less people online, which is usually around 11pm (PDT). Caves below the farm are also lit up (alternatively, you can flood with water or place slabs on the floor) to increase the spawn rates of the farm. Killing lots of Guardians can really wear out your armor. Be sure to check your armor durability every now and then. Yes, even with a full set of Omni armor on, the Guardian's spikes still "rekts" you... unless, of course, you have godmode ): Future Plans: Add auto-kill feature "Beautify" the farm" WIP Add beacons Add enchanting table Add auto-smelters (to cook the fish that drop) WIP Add anvils for repairing armor and weapons Increase storage size Tests - (Guardians per hour): 4 hours: ~200/hr with 10-30 people online. 1 hour: ~240/hr with 30-40 people online. 2 hours: ~250/hr with 10-20 people online. Based on these tests and just casual use of the farm, it seems that the spawn rates aren't so bad at all, no matter how many players are online
Great start Aero! Was awesome to see it ingame and if you would like any help with materials just hit me up whilst I'm online and I'd be willing to help
Hey! Could I check the farm out in person to see how you built it? I've drained and mined a whole monument but haven't built the farm. Let me know if I can check it out! Thanks!
first hour of testing done, pure afk with no looting I got: 468 shards 222 fish 168 crystals Approximate number of guardians killed is probably close to the number of shards. This is backed up as you have a 40% chance to get a fish and a 40% chance at a crystal. 468 x 0.4 = 187.2 which is in between fish and crystals. future tests will be added to get a more accurate picture EDIT 1: Something was seriously wrong with test 1 potentially, i ended up with roughly 160 killed each time from runs 2 and 3, not sure if I had it perfectly optimized first time or what... EDIT 2: left it for 3 hours while i was at class and got 766 shards, 369 fish, 302 crystals...no idea what my real rates are now #SoConfused. That's approx. 250 - 300 guardians an hour (from now on all tests will be run with x, y, z coordinates in mind
