Honestly I don't know how many towns I have build now but if you have been on the server for any length of time you have been to one of the incarnations of Kent. It is being built backwards this time in hope that some of you can get some practical use out of it. Right now there are close to 35 homes (housing for 100 easy) and a few co-ops... here's a quick breakdown of where we will see things go over the next short while.

    Kent

Kent is a well lit, well constructed community located attached to the /build admin area. There is enough living space to host a population in the hundreds. It is likely one of the first thing new players will find as they journey out into the wilderness... what a better place to stock up on supplies since there is no admin shops. It is and even better place to start making money fast. No need to set up a market or worry about getting people to come to your shop, just dump your items in a chest and they are sorted and sold for you. Not only do you get a place to sell your wares but you live near the market... which market? The one that sells to you at 1/2 price every day of the week. Your money goes farther when you live in Kent.

    Co-Op

People who live in town must join a co-op.
Other may join the co-op and can apply to rent a home in Kent.
If they can not afford to rent a home, they may stay in a room at the co-op to which they belong.

The general market in town will sell only wares that the co-op members provide, these will be sold to others on the server for a fair market price to be set by management. All co-op members will purchase market items at half the market price. No members will buy items at half price to resell to outsider or they will be banned from the co-op and Kent. Records of sales are kept, so be prepared to show where your purchases have been consumed. Joint efforts with outsiders will be considered selling to outsiders (IE building another town with others). Helping each other your money will go farther in Kent.

Donation to the co-op are of two types, those for resale and donations. Items for resale are sent to the market and kept in inventory until they sell, at which point you will get the proceeds from the sale less a small handling fee to cover the management. Paychecks will be given out on a weekly basis, expect to see a return of approx 85% of the actual sale value of items sold during the week. Your personal stock will be kept track of from week to week... if an item is not moving well the prices will be adjusted to keep cash flowing to the members. Donations to the town for building will be required as part of your membership. Each week a small list of goods needed will be posted in the co-op building, you will be paid a reduced price for these items as a package to keep the town growing and keep money flowing even if sales at the market are slow. Items placed in your drop box will be checked off this list, the remained will go to your stock in the market. If you would like to make Donations above the listed items, that you wish to head to the town for building or other needs, rather than going to the market, these will be accepted by the co-op manager. There will be a home in Kent given to the highest donator each month, if you already own a home in Kent you may use the credit to upgrade to a larger home or sell the home to another player. Value of the homes are set at $50 a square foot based on interior dimensions. They will not be sold for less than this by the management so the monthly prize is valued at $10,000, if you chose to sell, you may sell the home at any price you wish.

    Construction

Kent is currently under construction. We will be opening the co-op shortly starting with the mason workers co-op to give a kick start to the server economy. Any items that are mined / quarried will be available shortly. Expect a large assortment of bricks / blocks / glass and other useful items that come from the ground, you dig? During this time there may be some adjustments to the way things are managed, if you have suggestions please let us know. The Agricultural Co-op will be next on the list of things to do... this will encompass farming / timber / hunting / fishing / prepared foods. After these are operating the rest of the items needed in the market will be covered by other specially formed co-ops. There is no reason that with dozens of people working together we can not build one united shop that can stay fully stocked, rivaling any admin shop that could be made. That being said, at this point, large orders should be placed in advance so the members know where to focus their limited time.

If you have any comments or would like to buy a home / join a co-op, leave a message here.

Here's a rough map of Kent to help you get around. The top of the map faces the ocean. The white building that looks to have an 8 on it is the players market (currently under construction). Green squares are finished or near finished 10x10 homes, the rectangles are larger homes... if you use your land claim stick and click on a torch inside the building it will give you the size of the building that will be used to determine the cost. Blue buildings can be finished in a day, purple boxes are lots or land for future infrastructure and are not currently available for purchase. Boardwalks can be found on the left and right in the upper portion of the map. To the right, the town is flanked by mountains with a path carved into the bottom which runs alongside a man made reservoir. We are in the process of wall construction, these walls are to define the borders of the town. please do not build within 30 blocks of the wall as they need room to support a future public transit system and needs room to set claims to protect the build.

If you are interested in a home they are prebuilt and you may claim and build anything within the structures right down to the bedrock... plenty of room for subterranean farming of almost anything. If you plan on building anything that villagers need to reproduce you will require a permit... they will be issued free and available on a first come first serve basis to ensure adequate spacing and no interference with neighbour builds.

Stay tuned for our next weekly update... Please respect the build - Current time invested 400 hours - Size approx 140,000 blocks.

I needed to make it to manage my claims... claiming that beast took almost 15 hours just to sort out the homes so I owned the walls of the building and players can claim the insides. must be about 400 claims in there right now.

Although the shop it not yet finished it has been stocked with the basic blocks and ores to get you started... We will have an official grand opening when the shop is complete. For now it will be funding the infrastructure of Kent. So Shop Smart! Shop S-Mart.

The Stars are warp locations in town, these were all purchased with 24 hours worth of sales in the limited shop we have now. Thank you all for your support. If you are in game and looking for a list of the warps, go to /warp Kent and look on the wall in the entrance.

Amazingly built! I took a look around the area and I love the theme with the 1.8 blocks! I don't have much in survival, so to start me off, I'd like to apply to join the town please! In the mean time, anyways I can help plan, build or organize, anything you need, just ask. Have a coffee and relax, you seemed to have worked really hard already.

    Nice job!
