I agree with recognition to a certain extent, Fluf certainly did exaggerate when he said they "give up their lives". I could understand the Admins, Devs and Builders working a lot. Though it's not like the staff team is giving up a huge chunk of their lives to help out on the server. I'm not complaining but "giving up their lives" isn't seeing 1 mod online a day (Kaye) and some reps. I'm not oblivious and neither are you considering we have both been on the staff team (you were staff for some weeks), might I mention that they APPLIED for staff.
Really? I can understand you believing that we don't give up our lives, and maybe some people don't have a life to give up. I have to decline parties, hang-outs, any kinds of social events in real life because of building and NC. I signed up for the team knowing it would be taking away from my life, and I did it willingly. This one commission we were working on for another server, I was literally working from the minute I got up to the minute I went to bed, about 14 hours. So I really do give up my life for this, and it hurts me to see people say "Oh, you're exaggerating" when it's literally all for you guys. Clearly it's not a waste of time to the people trying to persuade the importance of their opinion to others.
Like you said YOU signed up for it, You weren't forced and it's not like you can't quit if you don't want to do it anymore your litterally like keemstar playing the victim card.
Cookie don't you think it's exageration when someone says the minute they wake up till the minute they go to sleep, "14hours".
To sum up everyone's argument here, because people seem to be losing the point. Yes, sometimes the job can consume someone's life. It's more common for the Devs, Builders and Admin+ team to have this but any rank can have this. I've had reps, helpers and moderators work with me for a hours on end with my content, because the staff team are willing to help out. You'd not believe how much they wish they could do more, and help the server. Yes, all of the staff members signed up for this job and knew exactly what it came with, and they're also always free to leave if it becomes overwhelming. We've had staff leave because they need to put more time and focus into school/college, whatever it may be. Do remember that some staff do also do work for NC outside of moderating, we have forums, applications, staff management and simply people who just want to improve the system that the staff operate. Even with them knowing they're dedicating a portion of their life to this, that doesn't mean they don't deserve recognition. Some people really do some fantastic work, work that most of you can't see because it's behind the scenes. It's not pulling a victim card to say that they do spend a good amount of time of their life helping the server out. Every time that someone posts a "Everyone is AFK" photo is usually based off of when America is busy with school, or sleeping. That's not to say lots of people do AFK, but you're also cherry picking your evidence here. I wish there was an AFK kick from the start, so that this wasn't an issue, but people would hate the implementation of one now. The only actually viable edit to do this would be rewarding online work far more than AFK, as Cyalenzer suggested. But I'm not sure if implementation of that would make levelling up too easy. It's best not to fiddle with the fundamentals of a server once it's live.
We know ned that they work and some people spend hours and hours on end.But people are just sick and tired of some staff saying that they give up their lives they might do, But like you said YOU signed up for it and they should stop trying to act as a victim.
