Me and some kids in my class got into an argument about whether or not video games should be considered art. I said that with all the time and effort put into creating a game it really should be considered an art form, and that the Supreme Court even ruled that it is one in June of 2011. So anyway, I am curious about what you guys think about this. Art is what you want it to be. By definition it is the realization of human creativity. It is generally associated with beauty, but if you take a look at modern art, you can see that most of the works are not beautiful. In fact, a lot of people mock the works of modern art, and especially the price tags. But that's the point... that is why it is art... that is the point, they generally roll a play on something and understanding that is what their worth is in, a lot of the time it is just a frivolous, humorous challenge on your ideas as to what art really is. A hairbrush qualifies as art if was inspired by creativity. The same goes for video games. On the contrary, this also means that not all video games are art. The same for hairbrushes. Deciding which is which is the question.
Some may argue that they are, some may oppose that. Like Ace said, it's the creativity that goes into it. Even a simple (although complex) block game like minecraft can be art. It's what you do to make it art.
