Hey there Noble Craft, I'd like to just push a small announcement out into the open. It has come to our attention that both players on the server and retired staff alike want to enforce the rules in order to keep the server the wonderful place it is. This is great and all, and we really appreciate that you want to help Noble Craft be one of the best communities out there. However, that is the job of staff - staff are shown exactly how to deal with each and every rule break in the most fair manner possible. Not to mention a member hearing criticism from someone not official can cause worse problems. So, that being said, we with regret are now making this a punishable offence. If you attempt to correct someone on the rules, you will first receive a private message from staff telling you that you need to PM staff to get rule breaks dealt with. This can and will be escalated if you continue. Additionally, it has also come to light that some members are attempting to tell the staff how to do their jobs. This is also a punishable offence, since there is a medium that you can use to report staff, found here: https://www.noble-craft.net/community/report-a-staff/ I hope this helps clear up some things and enables Noble Craft to continue to be the phenomenal community that it always has been. ~Ace
Thank you Ace for this new rule change! It will help out the staff to do their job better! You have already stated making great changes as admin, and I appreciate that. I can see you making a great change in the community. Thanks! ~SDogAlex
Explaining the rules to a wrong-doer does not add more fuel to the conflict, usually. Though apparently it's a huge issue and should be punishable. What about people who don't have an account on the forums or can't make one, and staff aren't online? What should they do, ignore the issue? Although that sounds hypothetical, it happens so much. Though I agree with not telling staff how to do their job part, but the first part isn't a good idea in my opinion. --- Double Post Merged, Feb 7, 2016, Original Post Date: Feb 7, 2016 --- Also I have a question: Is it against the rules to tell people it's against the rules to enforce the rules?
In our experience, it absolutely does and we do not condone it under any circumstance. It was never said that it was a huge issue, just something we see people doing in a misguided manner that needs to stop. We don't qualify this as a "huge issue". They make a forum account and use this: https://www.noble-craft.net/community/report-a-member No, refer to above. That may be the case but we are looking to improve the community with this effort since we know first hand that it causes problems and we are not okay with anything that potentially threathens the enjoyment people get out of this community. If you agree I don't see an issue, what first part are you referring to? --- Double Post Merged, Feb 7, 2016, Original Post Date: Feb 7, 2016 --- Mini-modding regardless of context is against the rules. Screenshot and report them.
I believe there was a "or can't make one" part in that sentence . From the years I have been on Noble Craft, I've only seen it happen once. Like I have said, when people explain the rules, most usually the people stop. There are a lot of people on the staff team, I only see 3 online a week. Even those 3 aren't around too often. What are we supposed to do, make 27 reports a day? It'd be hell for the forum commanders. You would be surprised how often people don't follow the rules, especially on servers staff don't go on that much (Kitpvp, Creative, Plots).
Sorry that you disagree, but I believe I have adequately explained that we are not okay with anyone who is not staff attempting to enforce the rules. This will not be changed.
You're making a mountain out of a molehill. Basically what this says is if someone is doing something they shouldn't be doing you can either: don't get involved and leave it for Staff OR report it on the forums and leave it for Staff. It's never a players responsibility to keep the rest of the server in check, and it never was. With this rule, this reminds players that they're just players and shouldn't assume otherwise. That is what this rule change implies and that is how it should be.
Of course it is not the player's place to keep the server in check. Just that reminding people of the rules shouldn't really be a punishable offence. What I have said before was, that there are many times when staff are not on. There are obviously some people that can not make an account on the forums or aren't allowed to. It is not very convenient for them. Yes it is impossible to make something that is convenient for everyone, but this was just my opinion. I just like to see things in different perspectives.
