I've been getting some good Dark Elixir for my Archer Queen and wanted to share my tips with some Clash of Clans players. If you're not a Clash player, please don't bother going "well uhh I don't play this game so this doesn't help me uhh yeah". That's the reason I put Clash of Clans in the title. Let's start off with Leagues. I'm currently around 1350 (High Silver 1) trophies. Around here, it takes around 5-15 searches to find a TH8/9 with over 1000 easy DE. Now, let's talk about armies. My spell factory has been upgrading for about 4 days now, leaving me stuck without Rage or Heal, but I've found a loophole for that, and it's pretty simple. Here's the exact rundown of my army composition. 16 Giants, 4 Wall Breakers, 60 Archers, and 52 Barbarians. Add more Barbarians or Giants as you upgrade your camps, because the tanks die out quickly when you get into the middle. I only take 4 Quake spells for busting into the middle compartment (or wherever the Dark is), and the rest poison for CC troops. When my Spell Fac finished upgrading, I will bring Heal Spells for my giants. Let's talk about execution next. If possible, try to lure the CC. Most players won't have any CC troops on defense at this level/trophy count, but you never know. Wizards and balloons are common, so you may want some of your own wizards in your offensive clan castle. After (or before) you deal with that, drop your Quakes at a point where you can easily open 1 or 2 wall layers near the dark elixir. After that, drop Giants, wait for any splash damage to activate (mortars) and drop Wall Breakers. After that, use Babarians and Archers to create a funnel for your Heroes. If you are farming DE to unlock the queen, save some of those units to take the dark. If you have Heal Spells, use those on the Giants as neccesary. After a funnel (A funnel will create a straight path for your main DPS units to get where you need them to go) has been created by the Barbs and Archers, drop your Heroes and head into the center. Have fun! The army (including the Quakes) takes an hour to train, so I recommend boosting the Dark Fac with Gems.
